Feedback - This is my official YouTube release of the music video. I am going to edit the video more for the final media project and I will play around with the colour and effects more. The picture under is some feedback left on the music video by friends and random YouTube viewers.

Inspiration on special effects

       

I have chosen this music video by John Wayne as there is specific special effects used that caught my eye and could be used in my music video.

The first special effect that i liked the look of was when John Wayne jumps in slow motion. This part of the music video grabbed my attention as the video has some fast cuts but the slow down brings down the pace. Despite the tempo change i feel it fits well as the slow down is on beat making it fit in and it differentiates from the other shots. The second image above shows a shot of a fast forwarded frame. This grabbed my attention as it fits in with the lyrics he says, it also nicely sets up a change in the shot. This looked very powerful within the visuals and made certain parts seem more powerful then they would have been if they were presented at normal pace.

A second effect that i liked was the colour change of the frame. This created a 'flash' effect bringing excitement within the music video. I feel this could be used in my music video at certain parts especially when  the flow of the lyrics speed up. I may try do the opposite by making the colour of the video look more dull when i slow down frames. This maybe effective if I do it correctly as it will differentiate these shots from others. This may work better for my music video as the instrumental used is very slow paced and the song is emotional, grabbing my audience's emotion helping them relate to the song more.

On an all i feel the special effects in this music video had a major impact of the success of the song as they helped bring excitement to the visuals. I must make sure that the effects used will fit in with the visuals, if not it may backfire and not look as good as it is supposed to.

Weather

Me and my partner Aruran are looking to record shots in both day and night time. We want to do this to give us a variety of shots to select from while editing our music video. We are weary of the night shots as we are afraid that the quality of the shot may drop because of gradient. We can avoid this by taking our night shots under street lights to avoid grading. We are also looking to take a shot while it is sunny and a shot while it is raining. We want to do this to allow us to experience different weather conditions while recording. This could help improve our camera skills as we will learn how to behave while recording in different weathers.

These shots were taken on the video shoot in Harrow skate park (Saturday 20 October). They have been edited to bring out the colours in the images. We may use one of these photos to promote the music video. We can add text into the image i.e. 'Moonz Outkast - Starry Eyed (ft. Prof.Hit)'. The top image is going to be used as the back cover of our digi-pack.

New selection of location

Me and my partner Aruran have decided to change one of our locations from central London to Harrow skate park. The reason for this is because the location is a lot more convenient for me and my partner and the facilities provided will look great on camera.We also feel that the atmosphere will suit the audio track as the instrumental is very bright along with the graffiti walls. Apart from graffiti walls there are skate ramps and a many good heights to get good high angles from. We will go to this location on Saturday to start our video shoot.

Audio Selection

I have been looking through many audio tracks produced by my self and I have decided what one I am going to use for my music video. The song is very fast paced and has a very good baseline in the body of the track. This will allow me to edit the track better as i can use cuts on the base making it look smooth and in place.
